First off we'd like to thank everyone that made it to Club Dada on October 6th for our "Tour-homecoming/Album release" show. The show was a HUGE success and we couldn't have been happier. Many thanks to our buddies Goodnight Ned and Bravo Max for helping us bring the ruckus.
We were also lucky enough to open for one of our favorite bands Shovels & Rope at LaGranage. They really brought it and thanks for selling the room out! Catch them next time they come through Dallas! They might be even better people than musicians, and that's saying a lot!
So far, the response to "Jank City Shakedown" has been wonderful. We want thank everyone for sharing with their friends and we want to encourage you to keep it up! An easy way to that is send them to Spotify or Youtube. Keep up with our current reviews and press shout-outs on our website: http://www.somebodysdarling.com/press.html.
Earlier this week we were thrilled to release our first-ever Daytrotter session. During our September tour we were lucky enough to record some tunes for the highly influential blog. Check it out here!
In conclusion, we got a lot of stuff coming down the pipeline for Spring, including an official SXSW 2013 Showcase in Austin, TX, a few more tours! Stay tuned in, and as always, thanks for the love. Check out our TOUR DATES to see where we'll be! 2 big shows upcoming.
THIS SATURDAY - OUR JANK CITY SHAKEDOWN CD RELEASE SHOW We're survuived traveling all over the East Coast! We've been back at home for a few days now, and we're getting prepared to play Club Dada in Dallas THIS SATURDAY. This is our "homecoming from tour/excuse to throw a party for Jank City Shakedown Show." If you're onFacebook check out the event here and please tell you friends.
THE TOUR The tour was really awesome. No band fights, no serious van mishaps, no food poisoning. It actually went exactly how we hoped, if not better. We played in 20 cities ranging from Houston, TX to Providence, RI. The highlight reel would lean heavily on our time in Nashville, New York, and Chicago, but we were also fortunate enough to record a Daytrotter session in Rock Island, IL! The recording should be going live in a few weeks. The MidPoint Music Fest in Cincinnati, OH was also most excellent as well. Out of all the bands we met and played with we gotta give a shout out to Buffalo Clover and The Kernal. Not only were they great running mates, they were great folks. The real news is that we're gonna keep doing this kids. Colorado and the West Coast: we're coming for you next. STAY TUNED.
VOTE FOR SOMEBODY'S DARLING Please go vote for us! We were nominated for the BEST COUNTRY ACT and Amber was nominated for BEST FEMALE SINGER at the2012 Dallas Observer Music Awards. We have also been asked to play the Showcase Nov. 1oth in Deep Ellum! Also, while you're votinggo ahead and vote for Jank City Shakedown producer Stuart Sikes for BEST PRODUCER
PRESS One of the nicest things about coming back to Dallas was being greeted by a bunch of positive vibes and press surrounding Jank City Shakedown. Not gonna lie - it feels good. Check. It. Out.
If you listen in these areas please let them know you like their decision to play "Jank City Shakedown." Independent rock 'n roll lives.
9/4/2012 New Album, "Jank City Shakedown" out TODAY!
The wait is FINALLY over... our sophomore album, "Jank City Shakedown" is out TODAY. You can pick up a copy worldwide at the finest online music retailers. THANKS to everyone who's been a part of this crazy journey. The past year has been full of writing/demoing/Kickstarting/recording/promoting etc etc etc, and without everyone's love and support it would literally not have been possible! Help us spread the word too!
So we hosted our "Kickstarter Listening Party" last night at The City Tavern in Dallas, TX. In addition to a cold keg of PBR, we spun the new record over the PA and raised a bunch of hell with some of our closest friends. Anyone that contributed $100 to the new record got to come and parktake in the festivities. The party also doubled as the FIVE YEAR ANNIVERSARY of the band... Crazy to think about, but in August of 2007 Somebody's Darling played their first show at the Green Elephant in Dallas. We practiced a grand total of two times before that show... Yeeeeesh. It's crazy to think about how long we've been kicking around and everyone who's been on the trip with us. To help us celebrate being a grown-up band our friends and family surprised us by chipping in and getting us a brand new road-case for our merchandise! This is HUGE deal to a traveling band, and we're super grateful!... Special thanks to Red Dirt Cases for making this beast.
Also, special thanks to Knoxville TN's i105 WFIV station for adding our new single, "Cold Hands" to rotation. If you live in that area please call them at (865) 777-4105 and tell them you like it!

08/09/12 New Album, "Jank City Shakedown" out Sept. 4th!
"Jank City Shakedown" is our sophomore LP coming out on every digital distribution outlet imaginable Sept. 4th. Physical copies of the disc will be available at our shows and in the merch section of this page as well. After a successful Kickstarter campaign in Feb. 2012, we went into the studio with Grammy-award winning engineer Stuart Sikes (White Stripes, Cat Power, Loretta Lynn, etc) and recorded the entire album in 10 days. Over the three years of gigging, writing and demoing that led up to the recording of the record we started to think of themselves as residents of a 'Jank City'. Sort of a broke down artist community that's colorful but stressful; rewarding yet maddening, and most of all, hilarious. Whenever a tire pops on the way to a gig, or a rent checks bounces or something, it's just a Jank City Shakedown. It takes a lot of faith and commitment to keep a rock 'n roll band going for 5 years, and we're is proud to keep writing tunes and connecting with friends and fans across the country. Hope you guys dig it!
02/20/2012 New Pictures From the Studio
Hey we just put up some new pictures from the recording studio. Check them out here:
Well it has been a shamefully long time since we've updated the news section here on the website. A ton of stuff has happened since the last post, so we'll BRIEFLY catch you up.
*SD raised over $9,750 via Kickstarter during fall of 2011 to help independently fund the recording of our sophomore album "Black Eyes and Alibis."
*During the first two weeks of February 2012 we recorded and mixed the album at Elmwood Recording in Oak Cliff, TX. We were fortunate enough to work with Grammy-Award winning producer and engineer Stuart Sikes (Cat Power, White Stripes, etc.)
*We will be planning the release this Spring and can't wait to share the results with you! In the meantime keep checking back periodically.
